Primer Task
Before (formally) beginning Unit 4 we were tasked to complete a task that would be beneficial to our Unit 4 outcome, I decided to begin gathering more research/ references that would be useful when creating Project 8 (and 9's) outcome. This research was primarily visual research (photos, videos etc) but it also includes one piece of audio. These references are to help me maintain consistency when drawing the comic. ‘THIS IS ORSON WELLES’ features interviews from the late-1960s until the 1970s, so this is the period I focused on gathering research from. I gathered images of locations, objects, and Welles and Bogdanovich from the period and stored them in a Google Images Collection. I also looked at videos, including the audio from the interviews featured in 'THIS IS ORSON WELLES'.
Below are some examples from the Google Images Collection I created.
Using the research gathered from the primer task I began to research through making, I began drawing images and objects from the Primer Task research. This was in practice for making the comic itself. Practicing drawing objects and people which will feature in will help me maintain consistency when drawing. It will also help me when simplifying, or stylising features or objects if I first familiarise myself with what I will be drawing. To draw in preparation for the project I basically just picked random images from the Google Images Collection I had created and just drew whatever I picked. I used a few different mediums in this practice, but mainly just watercolour and ink as I had decided I was likely to work in those mediums when creating the final outcome, and thought it was best to practice.
Below are examples of the work I created;
